DONNA Mother’s Day 5K to be held Saturday, May 9
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –– April 8, 2026 –– The DONNA Foundation today announced a matching gift challenge supporting fundraising efforts for its annual Celebrate Every Mom campaign. The Chartrand family have generously pledged a $10,000 matching gift for donations made beginning today. The campaign will conclude with the annual DONNA Mother’s Day 5K, the second event of the Foundation’s Fearless Series, presented by Wingard. The race, which will start and finish at Friday Musicale, will be held on Saturday, May 9.
Funds raised through the DONNA Mother’s Day 5K and the Foundation’s Celebrate Every Mom Fundraising Campaign, will support The DONNA Foundation’s mission to provide hope, support and financial relief to those living with breast cancer.
This exciting campaign comes on the heels of a successful 2026 DONNA Marathon Weekend, which generated an economic impact of more than $4 million and welcomed more than 10,000 visitors to the First Coast. With more than 25,000 participants across race weekend, including runners, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors and spectators, the event continues to grow in both scale and impact. DONNA Marathon Weekend was again recognized in the USA Today 10Best rankings, with the half marathon named #5 and the full marathon #6 in the country.
“Everything we do at The DONNA Foundation is designed to create meaningful impact for the families we serve,” stated Amanda Napolitano, Executive Director of The DONNA Foundation. “From a nationally recognized DONNA Marathon Weekend that brings thousands of people to our community, to the Celebrate Every Mom campaign that fuels our mission, each step forward helps us reach families facing breast cancer when they need it most. We are proud to be recognized among the best in the country, but what matters most is how that excellence translates into real support for patients. This Mother’s Day season, we invite our community to be part of that impact, especially through the generosity of the Chartrand Family matching gift, which allows every dollar to go twice as far.
Approximately one in three patients served by The DONNA Foundation are mothers with children at home. By hosting this event on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, Foundation leaders hope to inspire moms everywhere to take steps toward understanding, improving and protecting their breast health –– this and every year.
During the 30 days leading up to Mother’s Day, The DONNA Foundation will celebrate moms locally and across the nation through its Celebrate Every Mom campaign. Supporters can join in this effort by:
- Registering to run, walk or volunteer at the DONNA Mother’s Day 5K. Participants will enjoy the DONNA 5K route through Jacksonville’s historic Riverside neighborhood, starting and ending at Friday Musicale. The race begins at 8 a.m. Runners can choose to run in person or virtually their way, with time submissions open through Sunday, May 10 at 11:59 p.m.
- Volunteer with The DONNA Foundation by handing out water and cheering on runners along the DONNA Mother’s Day 5K course. Individuals can also sign up to assist at the finish line, with packet pickup, merchandise tents or helping to serve food and beverages. You don’t have to run to help FINISH breast cancer!
- Supporting the “Celebrate Every Mom” matching gift challenge by making a donation in support of the critical programs of The DONNA Foundation, starting a fundraiser or joining an existing fundraising team. Don’t forget –– you can double the impact of your gift this month thanks to The Chartrand Family match!
- Partnering with The DONNA Foundation to become a sponsor of the 2026 DONNA Mother’s Day 5K event. Sponsor and vendor opportunities designed to maximize brand exposure locally, regionally and nationwide to a unique, and desirable demographic are available. Companies can also sponsor race registrations for employees.
- Celebrating all month with your participation in various events and third-party fundraisers, all dedicated to supporting The DONNA Foundation’s mission.
