The DONNA Foundation’s annual “Together We Will” fundraising campaign aims to raise $500,000
Whataburger kick starts the campaign raising $17,000
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (August 15, 2019) – Whataburger locations in Jacksonville raised $17,000 for The DONNA Foundation as a part of their May 2019 fundraising campaign for the Foundation.
On Saturday, July 20, Whataburger Field Brand Coordinator Ross Shackelford and Senior Area Manager Brian Squires revealed the final total from their campaign to area runners gathered to begin training for the 13thAnnual DONNAMarathon Weekend, a signature event of The DONNA Foundation to be held February 7-9, 2020. A check for $17,000 was presented to The DONNA Foundation’s Executive Director, Amanda Napolitano.
These funds will be applied to the Foundation’s annual “Together We Will” fundraising campaign, which aims to raise $500,000 to support programs with a vision to transform the experience for breast cancer families from one of fear and frustration, to one of love and support.
“Whataburger has been dedicated to serving the communities where we do business for almost 70 years, and this is just one way of investing in the Jacksonville-area community. This past May, four participating Jacksonville-area Whataburger locations raised $17,000 for The DONNA Foundation. We are excited to help such an amazing cause that truly makes an impact here in Jacksonville,” said Shackelford.
Whataburger is a “Society of Caring” Community Partner for The DONNA Foundation. “The DONNA Foundation is a valuable part of our community, and we know families with loved ones dealing with breast cancer have been through a lot. We want to say thank you to The DONNA Foundation for allowing us to be a part of helping breast cancer patients get the best care they need,” continued Shackelford.
The DONNA Foundation served nearly 1,000 families living with breast cancer in 2018, providing more than $500,000 in debt relief through the DONNA CareLine. The patient volume served by the DONNA CareLine Program is expected to grow more than 30% in 2019; therefore, the DONNA Foundation is hoping more organizations will join Whataburger in support.
“The needs of The DONNA Foundation have expanded, and we know that with the help of organizations like Whataburger, we can achieve this monumental goal,” said Napolitano. “Together we can, and together we will!”
The DONNA Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Jacksonville that provides debt relief assistance and support for families living with breast cancer. The organization also funds breast cancer research at the Mayo Clinic, and operates programs for survivorship, education and awareness.
“This generous donation from Whataburger will allow us to reach more families living with breast cancer,” added Napolitano.
