The DONNA foundation is paving the way to finish breast cancer and creating a space for love and remembrance in Oceanfront Park in Jacksonville Beach.  When we think of people we have lost, we often remember certain details—a conversation, a laugh, a certain look, or even a favorite place. Relationships have a way of shaping who we are and who we will become in the future. But when a relationship ends, the need to remember, the need to validate becomes so important. To honor this need, The DONNA Foundation, together with our media partner First Coast News launched the DONNA Brick-by-Brick Campaign in late 2016. The plan for the project is to fill the circular pathway at Oceanfront Park with commemorative stones that showcase, not only the names, but the details of those special to us. To provide the community with a beautiful place to reflect and remember their loved ones, to know they mattered. On November 28, 2017 as the sunset and the sky turned to a rich shade of PINK, the Foundation invited all 500 initial brick owners to join Donna at the park for a dedication ceremony. Donna, along with a few special folks, spoke briefly about what the project meant to them as guests communed with one another, shared stories and connected. Following this first installation, bricks are scheduled be placed biannually, spring/summer and fall/winter. To date this project has financially supported hundreds of families living with breast cancer. Learn more about the Brick-by-Brick campaign or to purchase a brick please click here.
