Donna Deegan is a Jacksonville, Florida native.  She was raised on Jacksonville’s Southside and graduated from Bishop Kenny High School.  She holds a BS in Communications from Florida State University.  After graduating from college, Donna started a career in broadcasting in 1984 at Florida television news stations including Tallahassee, Fort Pierce and West Palm Beach, Florida.  In 1988, she jumped at the opportunity to come home to Jacksonville and First Coast News to anchor the weekend broadcasts.  Then in 1992, she took on the 5:30 and 11:00pm newscasts.

Donna is the Founder/President of The Donna Foundation which began in June of 2003 assisting local women battling breast cancer.  Donna herself is a two time breast cancer survivor, who was first diagnosed in 1999 at the age of 38 and again in 2002.  Her own personal battle inspired her to form The Donna Foundation when learning of one woman who was battling breast cancer and had difficulty making ends meet.  To date, over 1,000 First Coast women have been assisted by the Foundation.  She is also the author of “The Good Fight” a book written about her own personal battle with breast cancer which chronicles her online journal she began with hundreds of viewers.

Donna is involved in a number of community organizations, and as a two-time breast cancer survivor, she created The Donna Foundation.  During her own battle with breast cancer, she talked with many women who simply couldn't make ends meet while they were undergoing treatment for the disease.  Her Foundation provides the necessary funds to care for local women living with breast cancer.  She is a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and has two (2) children, Danielle and Drew.  She is married to First Coast News Meteorologist, Tim Deegan, and her hobbies include running, swimming, biking and reading.
